224; 1865, 581; year unknown, 9. Whole number of enlistments, 2191. Of this number about 300 were transferred from the N. Y. Independent Battalion and 117th N.Y. Vols. The casualties in engagements with the enemy were 947, or 43 per cent. Deducting the recruits of 1865, none of whom were in more than one action (Wilmington), and with only three wounded, the loss is increased to nearly one half, and without the 1865 recruits, two thirds. 236 were killed or died of wounds
